The Last Day (Excerpt)

They say “It is what you do with the gift of life that determines who you
are,” by they I mean Mewtwo the 150 th Pokemon and clone of the
original Mew. That is a quote our new friend Harold always lived by
even when the world was a much more hopeless place.
Now the world is quiet. Most animals have gone extinct. The ones
that did not are with humans on arcs either at or on their way to new
colonies and planets. Harold on the other hand stayed behind to
monitor the Thermal Nuclear system basically keeping Earth breathing
its last breathes.
The Earth was dying faster and faster every year. So Harold’s
company designed and created a system to keep it running at its
minimum until all the Arcs were ready to take off into the new
horizons. Including Harold’s sister Savannah and her wonderful nuclear
family.
Now, for the last couple of years Harold elected to stay behind to
monitor all the systems until every last person and animal was on the
ships, and that they were far enough out to not have to come back to
their old dying world.
Harold began to stir from his slumber and the thoughts of this
being his final day will rush his mind however, it will not “bum him out,”
or “kill his vibe,” as I have heard the kids say before. No Harold is a hero
unlike many people before him.
